Worship Bend

This is a flyer that my family received in the mail today. It was from the church that I belong to, and was created to advertise a new style of services the church would be offering. On the back side of the card it explained that they would soon going to start a Contemporary, Blended, and Traditional style of Worship.

Though the card was not designed by a professional, I thought that the play on coffee was very witty.
I do think that the design could have been improved if the pictures and fonts were altered slightly. For example one could have pictured the traditional cup of coffee with plain black coffee. Also it would have helped of the Traditional cup would have been lowered slightly on the page it just seems a bit high. And the Blended style could have maybe used a different type that would have illustrated a mixture between the two sides. While the Contemporary picture was very well associated, I think that the could have used a very light color of coffee (almost white, like a Starbucks iced coffee drink with whipped cream or something) to illustrate the contrast between the plain Traditional.
Having the text at a angle does add some interest, but a different font might have been better choice.

This is poster that I found on Deviant Art.com, It was created to advertise a concert in Brazil. I was really drawn to this, because it had such a warm, feminine energy. I also really liked the illustration the in this piece, because it had such the rock 'n roll vibe. I don't know there's just something about it that makes you want to hang out with this laidback, rocker chick. Who Know's Maybe it's just the fro she's rockin' ? I do think that it was very clever to have the text over her afro. It really catches you attention, and keeps you interested as look down the page. All of the letters just seem to follow her curves! The whole piece just seems very sensual, maybe like the music that might be playing there?

Hoosierville

This is a picture that I took of a poster, I recently saw on a trip Indianapolis. Me and my friends were walking around downtown and I saw this design hung on the side of an old building. Instantly I fell in love with it, because it was so spontaneous and fresh. It turned out that it was an artist's studio, and he had created this work to be displayed on the back side of the building to attract people's attention to his shop. I really liked that it visually expressed his style, and that it portrayed some of the issues important to him. It was a great way if advertising himself to the public. I also think that it was a good idea that the design had a mirror image. I think that if the artist had chosen something else, the piece would be less effective . And At the very top of the work (near the flaming hand) you can see some text; it's the artist's signature and philosophy, how clever!
